Where you stay can completely change the rhythm of a Da Nang–Hoi An trip. Beachfront Da Nang, the Han River area, and the edge of Hoi An Old Town each make a different part of the day easier.
After staying in several areas, I realized the better question was not “Which hotel is the most luxurious?” but “What does this location make easier?”

If time allows, combining these three areas gives you the beach in the morning, Da Nang's city side at night, and two different sides of Hoi An. On a shorter trip, however, there is no need to add hotel moves only for variety.

HAIAN Beach Hotel & Spa worked well as the first stay because it made Da Nang feel like a beach city immediately.
The sea felt close from the room and pool, and morning beach walks were easy. The location helped the trip begin with the ocean rather than the traffic and density of the city.
The beachfront area could be somewhat noisy at night. It did not bother me much, and the earplugs provided in the room felt like a thoughtful detail.

HAIAN Riverfront Hotel Da Nang made Dragon Bridge and the Han River night views feel close to the stay.
Han Market, museums, Da Nang Cathedral, riverside walks, and Dragon Bridge were easier to reach from this area. It showed a more urban side of Da Nang than the beachfront.
The room felt somewhat smaller, but the bathtub and river location were useful. Seeing Dragon Bridge from both the room and hotel pool was especially memorable. The central location also came with some nighttime noise during my stay.

Hoi An Historic Hotel was near the edge of the Old Town, making it convenient without placing the entire stay inside the busiest streets.
Hoi An was hot during the day, so being able to return to the pool mattered. I could walk out for the lanterns in the evening and return to the quiet streets the next morning.
The grounds felt spacious and relaxed compared with the high-rise hotels in Da Nang. It was a good place to spend time at the hotel rather than using it only for sleep.
A longer stay may not be necessary for everyone, but one night had clear value because it made both evening and morning practical.

TMS Hotel Da Nang Beach worked well as a return to the sea at the end of the trip. The room was spacious, had a balcony, and offered an elevated ocean view. Watching sunrise from the rooftop was one of the most memorable scenes of the trip.
Depending on the room position, visibility from nearby hotels may be a concern. The rooftop view was stronger than the pool area's comfort for a long stay; I preferred the pool environment at the Hoi An hotel.
It suits travelers who prioritize the view, beach time, and the feeling of ending the trip by the sea.

Final Verdict: Choose the Time of Day You Want to Make Easier
HAIAN Beach Hotel & Spa made morning beach time easier. HAIAN Riverfront Hotel Da Nang made city nights easier. Hoi An Historic Hotel made the lantern evening and quiet morning practical. TMS Hotel Da Nang Beach gave the trip a final elevated ocean view.
After staying in all four, I do not think the decision can be reduced to which hotel is best.
Choose the area based on whether you want to make the morning, afternoon, or evening easier. That was the most useful way to choose hotels in Da Nang and Hoi An.
