Privacy Policy

MGate Co., Ltd. ("the Company") regards the protection of personal information as a top priority in the operation of the TravelPassport app ("the App"). This Privacy Policy ("the Policy") explains what personal information is collected, how it is used and shared, and how users can manage their own personal information within the App.

Compliance with Laws and Guidelines

The Company complies with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and other applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines in handling personal information lawfully and appropriately.

Methods of Collecting Personal Information and Types of Information Collected

The App does not require user registration or login, and does not directly collect personal identifiers such as name or email address. However, the following types of information may be collected during the use of the App:

Currency Information for Exchange Rate Retrieval
 Only currency information is sent to external services (ForexRateAPI) without identifying individuals.

Travel Data, Events, Contacts, and Files Entered by Users
 All such data are stored locally on the user's device and are not sent to the Company or third-party servers.

Location Information (Country Only)
 The country information is obtained at first launch to automatically set the local currency, but this is processed locally and not transmitted externally.

Usage Information (Non-Personally Identifiable Statistical Data)
 This includes screen transitions, the number of trips/events, error (crash) logs, advertising IDs, etc. Such information is collected for quality improvement, advertising, and service enhancement purposes.

Purposes of Use of Personal Information

  • To provide, operate, and improve the App and its features
  • To enhance usability (e.g., automatic local currency setting, providing exchange rates)
  • For advertising delivery and effectiveness measurement
  • To comply with legal requirements

Data Retention Period

  • Data stored in the App can be deleted at any time by the user through the App or device operations.
  • The Company does not store or manage personal information on external servers.
  • If personal information is obtained through inquiries, it will be deleted within 12 months after the response is completed. If a deletion request is made, it will be processed within one month.

Export and Import Functions

The App allows users to export and import travel data and related information.

  • Exported data may include travel plans, events, contacts, ticket files, etc.
  • Export and import operations are performed at the user's own discretion and responsibility.
  • The Company does not obtain, store, or transmit the contents of exported data. If data is shared via external methods (e.g., email), the management of such data is the user's responsibility.

Use of External Services and Third-Party Provision

The App uses the following external services. Please refer to the privacy policies of each service for details on the information they collect.

  • Google Analytics for Firebase (Analytics)
  • Firebase Crashlytics (Error/Crash Reporting)
  • Google AdMob (Advertising)
  • ForexRateAPI (Exchange Rate Data Retrieval)

Only non-personally identifiable information is sent to these services for purposes such as advertising, analytics, and service improvement.

Data Subject Rights

Users ("data subjects") have the following rights under the GDPR and other applicable laws:

  • Right of Access: Request a copy of your personal data held by us.
  • Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Right to Erasure ("Right to be Forgotten"): Request deletion of data under certain conditions.
  • Right to Restriction of Processing: Request restriction of data processing under specific circumstances.
  • Right to Data Portability: Receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
  • Right to Object: Object to certain types of data processing.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent to processing at any time for processing based on consent.
  • Right to Lodge a Complaint: File a complaint with a data protection authority.

To exercise these rights, please contact us via the inquiry form. We will respond within one month in accordance with the GDPR.

Requests are generally handled free of charge. However, in the case of unreasonable or excessive requests, a reasonable fee may be charged or the request may be declined.

Data Security Measures

The Company implements necessary security measures as stipulated in its information security guidelines to protect personal information and prevent unauthorized access, leakage, loss, falsification, or destruction.

Disclosure of Personal Information to Third Parties

Personal information obtained will be appropriately managed and will not be disclosed to third parties except in the following cases:

  • With the user's consent
  • When required by law (e.g., court order)
  • When necessary to protect life, body, or property and obtaining consent is difficult

Provision to external services is limited to those listed in "Use of External Services and Third-Party Provision" above.

Privacy of Minors

The App is not intended for children under the age of 16. If a person under 16 uses the App, parental or guardian consent must be obtained.
If it is discovered that personal data has been obtained without such consent, it will be promptly deleted.

Disclaimer

  • The Company assumes no liability for any damages arising from the use of the App (including but not limited to data loss, data leakage to third parties, external service failures, device malfunctions, or other issues), except in cases of intentional or gross negligence by the Company.
  • Information provided within the App (such as exchange rates) is obtained from external services, and the Company does not guarantee its accuracy, completeness, or timeliness.
  • The Company is not responsible for any trouble arising from data sharing or use of the export/import functions between users.
  • The terms and privacy policies of external services (advertising, analytics, exchange rate providers, etc.) also apply.
  • The Company is not liable for any damages resulting from decisions or actions taken based on information provided in the App.

Copyrights and Portrait Rights

Images, illustrations, and other content provided within the App are protected by copyrights and portrait rights.
Use of these contents is strictly limited to within the App, and unauthorized reproduction, redistribution, or secondary use is strictly prohibited.
