Some people watch from the nearby plaza, while others stand closer to the dragon on the bridge.

▶ Watch in the video: Dragon Bridge (04:36)

Day 3｜My Son Sanctuary

Key Points for Day 3

Explore a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Perfect for history and culture lovers

Balance sightseeing with resort time

Morning

Head out to My Son Sanctuary.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site was once the religious and political center of the ancient Champa Kingdom. However, temperatures were already quite high, so sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water are essential.

This period usually offers stable weather, making it easier to enjoy beaches, day trips, and outdoor sightseeing.

Getting Around

Grab

Private car services

Hotel-arranged transportation

These are the most convenient transportation options around Da Nang and Hoi An.

For most travelers, Grab is the easiest and most cost-effective choice. The app is widely used, easy to understand, and available throughout the region.

Payment Methods

Many cafés and larger businesses accept credit cards, but smaller restaurants, local shops, and some attractions may still prefer cash.

It is a good idea to carry some Vietnamese dong with you, especially when visiting local markets or smaller establishments.

Should You Stay in Hoi An?

For a first trip, staying in Da Nang is usually the easiest option.

You can enjoy the beaches, access the airport easily, and still visit Hoi An as a day trip. Personally, I felt that staying overnight in Hoi An would be something to consider on a second visit, once you’ve already experienced the main highlights of the region.

Final Thoughts

If this is your first trip to Da Nang and Hoi An, I highly recommend a 4-day itinerary that includes:

Da Nang beachside accommodation

Marble Mountains

Son Tra Peninsula

My Son Sanctuary

Hoi An Ancient Town

This combination offers a great balance of beaches, culture, history, scenic drives, and local food without feeling rushed.

The biggest lesson from my own trip was that leaving room to relax is just as important as visiting famous attractions.
